Center for Policy Studies (CPS)

The Center for Policy Studies (CPS) is dedicated to improving the quality of governance in the region by providing of independent public policy analysis and advice. The center is committed to strengthening local capacity for critical policy analysis, and pursues research and publication that is interdisciplinary and carried out with partners in the global policy community, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. CPS is actively seeking to involve the broader CEU community in its activities. In recent years, 25 Master’s and doctoral students have been working on major CPS research projects, and several alumni have been employed permanently with the center. Through internship programs and course offerings, members of CPS research staff have also served as mentors, helping students to upgrade their skills in intelligent research assistance, data gathering by various (mostly) qualitative methods, policy analysis and evaluation, and occasionally, research and knowledge management.
